2nd Major Scale Position and its chords

In this lesson we are learning the second position of major scale and the scale chords that fits this position.

In the following video I am explaining the 2nd major scale position and chords in detail.

G major Scale 2nd Position

Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Aenean diam dolor, accumsan sed rutrum vel, dapibus et leo.

G

This is a major chord with the root note on low E string. This major chord could be anywhere on the guitar and it will be named based on the second finger on low E string which is the Root note.
In this case we are playing G chord with the root note on low E string which is on the 3rd fret.

Am

This is a minor chord with the root note on low E string. This minor chord could be anywhere on the guitar and it will be named based on the 4th finger (pinky) on low E string which is the Root note.
In this case we are playing Am chord with the root note on low E string which is on the 5th fret.

Bm

This is a minor chord with the root note on A string. This minor chord could be anywhere on the guitar and it will be named based on the first finger (index) on A string which is the Root note. In this case we are playing Bm chord with the root on A string which is on the 2nd fret.

C

This is a major chord with the root note on A string. This major chord could be anywhere on the guitar and it will be named based on the first finger (index) on A string which is the Root note. In this case we are playing C major with root on A string which is on the 3rd fret. So the first finger should bar the 3rd fret.

D

This is a major chord with the root note on A string. This major chord could be anywhere on the guitar and it will be named based on the first finger (index) on A string which is the Root note. In this case we are playing D major with root on A string which is on the 5th fret. So the first finger should bar the 5th fret.

Em

This is a minor chord with the root note on D string. This minor chord could be anywhere on the guitar and it will be named based on the first finger (index) on D string which is the Root note. In this case we are playing Em with root on D string which is on the 2nd fret.

F#mb5 (F#dim)

This is a diminished chord with the root note on D string. This diminished chord could be anywhere on the guitar and it will be named based on the first finger (index) on D string which is the Root note.
In this case we are playing F#diminished chord with the root note on the D string which is on the 4th fret.

G

This is a major chord with the root note on D string. This major chord could be anywhere on the guitar and it will be named based on the first finger (index) on D string which is the Root note.
In this case we are playing G chord with the root note on the D string which is on the 5th fret.
